Fall stocking begins October 13 in 2026

NJDEP’s fall program starts Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Use the state’s schedule for the individual waters and read the notices above the table before choosing a day.

The dates in our GIS archive are older published plans. Follow the 2026 state schedule for this autumn’s trip.

What is different about the fall fish?

The state describes two-year-old rainbow trout averaging 14–16 inches, with some larger, three-year-old broodstock mixed into the releases. Those fish are part of the program; they do not guarantee a catch at your chosen water.

The 2026 fall program also incorporates trout previously raised for winter stocking. Start with the current October schedule when planning a late-season trip.

Keep the schedule and conditions side by side

Choose a water with an entrance you can verify. For a river, open a timestamped gauge graph as well as the schedule. For a lake or pond, read the land manager’s current notices.

Save the water and its official schedule link before leaving. A quick final look at both is easier than changing plans after a long drive.
